Tia Palermo is Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Environmental Health at the University at Buffalo (State University of New York), where her research examines the impacts of social policy on population health. She has led/co-led multiple longitudinal, mixed-method impact evaluations examining the impacts of government social protection programmes on health, stress, and adolescent well-being through a range of experimental and quasi-experimental designs in Ghana, Ethiopia and Tanzania, as part of the Transfer Project. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received training in Demography at the Carolina Population Center and City University of New York (CUNY) Institute for Demographic Research (CIDR). She was previously a Social Policy Specialist with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
